PTI founder granted bail in corruption reference

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted bail to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in the 190 million pounds case.

The ruling, which had been reserved a day earlier, was pronounced by a two-member panel made up of IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri following the conclusion of the plaintiffs’ arguments.

The former prime minister, who has been detained in the Adiala Jail for months, has been granted bail by the high court against one million rupee security bonds.

In February, last year, accountability court brought charges against Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has previously filed a corruption reference against the former prime minister and others, claiming they were paid millions of dollars in land through the Al-Qadir Trust as bribes.
